Maya DeBrouwer, a sophomore at La Canada High, placed second in the girls varsity Sundown Showdown race at the ASICS Cool Breeze Invitational, covering the 3-mile course in 17:14.8 at the Pomona Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. DeBrouwer, an avid mountain bike racer, helped La Canada take third overall with 122 points.
